Do I have to use approved vendors?At The Flyway Lodge, we allow you the freedom to choose your own vendors, but they must be pre-approved if not on our recommended list. All vendors and service contractors must be licensed, insured professionals and proof of insurance must be provided. The Flyway Lodge is located between the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach and the area offers a wide variety of talented vendors. Visit our wedding vendor page for more details.

What is your alcohol policy?We do permit outside alcohol. Bartenders must be insured and the client must purchase host liquor liability insurance. Flyway Events, LLC and its employees are not responsible for any damages, costs or expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, which may arise as a result of consumption of alcoholic beverages by the client and any of the client’s guests. The client is responsible for obtaining the necessary permits as required by NC ABC. At the Flyway Lodge, we do not charge any addiitonal fees (commonly referred to as "tap fees" or "pour fees").

How much power does the barn offer?The farm building has a 200-amp electrical service that may be used by vendors. A Flyway representative will be onsite for the duration of your event and will handle questions or emergencies related to Flyway facilities. All onsite food preparation must be non-electric.

Do you set up and break down tables and chairs?The Flyway Lodge provides set up and breakdown of our tables and chairs for both ceremony and reception areas.

Where should my guests park?A parking lot is available adjacent to the Carriage House and all vehicles must park in this area. The gate to the Carriage House is closed on the day of your wedding. We do offer golf cart services to guests with limited mobility.

Can our dog participate in our wedding?Absolutely! We've had many weddings featuring dogs, from walking down the aisle to just hanging out. We are partial to dogs, but you can bring any outgoing creature you'd like just be sure to let us know during your tour and planning process!

Can I schedule my engagement or bridal photos before my wedding?Future brides that have signed a wedding contract will be able to schedule a 2 hour photo session on site before the wedding with the photographer of their choice. Please reach out to us to schedule a time.

Where can my out of town guests stay?The North Beach Landing Resort is located just 1 mile from the venue. They offer newly built cottages with modern amenities. Please visit their website for more information. There are also a few cottages available for rent on the island. The Island Lotus Yoga and Spa has been a favorite with many of our guests. Where can I get our marriage license?You must visit the Currituck County Register of Deeds office and both applicants must be present with valid identification. For more information, visit their website here.

Does the venue provide ice?Flyway Lodge does not provide ice. Ice can be purchased through your caterer or can be picked up either at RCo gas station in Creeds located at 601 Princess Ann Road or at the Knotts Island Market located at 395 Knotts Island Road.

Who is responsible for busing dinner tables and emptying trash cans?Your caterer is responsible for cleaning all dinner tables and removing trash following dinner. The bartender is responsible for busing tables and removing trash for the remainder of the event.

Where should vendors park and unload?All vendors must park in the designated Vendor Parking area. Vendor unloading/loading can take place behind the Carriage House. Once unloading is complete, vendor will move their vehicle to the designated parking area.

Does Flyway host LGBTQ events?Absolutely! We believe all love should be celebrated!

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?Not to worry! We have had numerous rainy weddings and each went off without a hitch! A 40'x60' tent is included in your site rental and our Carriage House provides further space for catering, bartending, dancing, and whatever else you can imagine.
